Booze and Snooze

The first day in Edinburgh. We got along fine going from Glasgow by train to Edinburgh then by bus to our B & B a wonderful little town house about a mile from the main tourist area, or a 15 minute bus ride. Our room was not ready so we went about walking around the local neighborhood. The room is on the top floor, a master twin with 2 singles and get this a big double bed. Our window overlooks the area skiing mountain. Bill and I settled and and took a well deserved nap.

Waking up we began our journey into town by bus. The main bus stop  is impossible to miss is the center of the tourist area called -The Royal Mile. Our first stop as any should be in any major city is the TI or Tourist information center. Here you can get load of information and the all important city map. Unfortunately, between getting up from our rest and walking around we seem to have missed not only the TI but the Whiskey tour as well. It seems many of the traditional tourists attractions close at 5pm. We coves to get an early start tomorrow and start at the Castle and hit all the spots. Luckily for us the booze places are still open so we........were walking down this street and we notice this alley where some people were talking photos so we walked down and found it lead to the writer's museum which was of course closed. However, Bill noticed a twisting lane off the museum and mentioned we take the road. As I never have to have my arm twisted for a new adventure said "ok, let's do it." Lo and behold it was if if the gods smiled down upon us as we came to a hole-in-wall pub called the Jolly Judge. We walked down the stair leading us into a medieval, stone wall and wood-beamed bar. Feeling right at home, HoldtheSun grabbed a table and we ordered some well deserved booze.
To be continued.....
