The morning of the flight I have the usual pre-flight anxiety not over flying but did I pack all the electronic equipment (which Sarah calls my gadgets) and charges.
Did I pack all my documents, credit cards etc.
I called to have a limo pick us up at 12:00. Five minutes before we were set to leave, Bill could not find his wallet. He emptied his bag while I checked his coat from last night and found the wallet in the pocket. Finally, with Pearl sleeping and everything in hand we took the ride to the airport.
Legends Car Service is a first class operation with wonderful late model Lincoln town cars and excellent drivers. The highway to the airport was bumper-to-bumper but our driver took the streets until the traffic jam cleared and then got on the highway. We arrived in plenty of time with no line waiting for us at security we re able to breeze through the process.
We proceeded to the gate, had some coffee and snacks and awaited our flight.
The flight: US Airways from LGA to Philadelphia leaving 3:00 arriving Philadelphia at 4:00
Leaves Philadelphia 6:45 arrives Glasgow Scotland 6:20 am the next morning.
Then we hop a train from Glasgow to Edinburgh about 50 minutes.
We proceed to the gate to have some snacks and coffee and wait until takeoff. They changed our gate at the last minute and we scrambled over to board from the new gate. Boarding begins promptly and the gate agent ask we all take a yellow tag to identify our bags. I thought this was strange since we only had carry on luggage. Upon heading down the in place gangway to the plane we came upon a stairway leading onto the Tarmac....
The Flight: we walked out into the bright sunlight coming upon a twin propeller, aging four-seat, wide shit box of a plane, that was to be our home for the next hour. If I was in a more romantic mindset, the twin propeller plane would bring up images of the old PAM AM clippers from the 40's. A plane looking like something out of Casablanca, or Indiana Jones. Alas no sigh, our reality was this noisy, bumpy bottom of the barrel aircraft which sat there for a half-hour while we waited to depart
