We spent the first two days chasing the stones, the next two days I showed Bill a visual feast for his eyes....tthe architectural, and historical wonders of castles. I will post photos after each so there will be no confusion. Like a crescendo it reaches new heights as we go along. We started our day early and made our first stop the 13th century ruined castle overlooking our hotel called Kildrummy Castle.
Castle
Kildrummy Castle is a ruined castle near Kildrummy, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, United Kingdom. Though ruined, it is one of the most extensive castles of 13th century date to survive in eastern Scotland, and was the seat of the Earls of Mar.
Kildrummy Castle is "shield-shaped" in plan with a number of independent towers. The flat side of the castle overlooks a steep ravine; moreover, on the opposite side of the castle the walls come to a point, which was once defended by a massive twin-towered gatehouse. The castle also had a keep, called the Snow Tower, taller than the other towers, built in the French style, as at Bothwell Castle. Extensive earthworks protected the castle, including a dry moat and the ravine. Most of the castle foundations are now visible, along with most of its lower-story walls. Archaeological excavations in 1925 uncovered decorative stone work.

We find a wall with the most commanding view at each Castle or Stone sit with our backs to it, relax, talk and process what we have just seen. Bill's look says are we going to eat or you going to keep taking pictures!
