Our last evening....

On our last late afternoon, we made a final stop after the distillery to Glenbuchat Castle down the road from our humble abode.
Here Bill and I parked ourselves in what has become our signature style, backs to some castle or stones wall, food spread out some red wine to compliment the meal. However this time music was available. After a few small glasses of wine, the moment so quiet as we are the only people there except a black bird. I am so content with life in tis quiet moment, Bill and I, a ruined Castle waiting for us to explore, no one around us we sit in perfect stillness.

I say to Bill I would like to play something, he said sure go ahead. I start the music, at first Bill strains to hear, then the alto sax starts going, and I tell him it is John Coltrane, "My Favorite Things", he knows it well. I say, Bill that no matter where I am in the world, even in NYC, that whenever I am happy, and feel that wonderful contentment and have seized the day I play this Coltrane song.
We know Bill is a reserved gentlemen, however upon hearing me say this, he pushes forward, raises his wine glass in hand and and with genuine exuberance tells me, That is Great, oh man
is that great!!! There are moments when I see this side of Bill that beings me a joy as I think about what it would have been like in my life if I was a father and had a son with me.

The next few hours we spend listening to music. Bill starts talking about Hendrix. You like Hendrix, Bill? I got him on here, he says "Really, on that" and I begin to play All Along the Watchtower, then Foxy Lady, finally Purple Haze. At this point, we start sharing about our sorted past... We listen to Hendrix as he psychedelically wails away on the guitar, and we blast the music "Excuse me while I kiss the sky".....

Bill, with IPod and speaker in hand groovin' with the music....

Bill getting a kick out of me turning the screen of my camera around so we can see ourselves to take photos.

The ole Buchat himself giving me and the Billster his approval.
